Student Experience: Why Bogoroch & Associates LLP
Our firm has a demonstrated history of providing injured victims and their families with access to the justice system, and we work every day to achieve excellent results for all of our clients. We have been named as one of the top ranked Personal Injury law firms by Canadian Lawyer Magazine and we look for students who are genuinely interested in our practice area.
We provide our students with an extensive hands-on litigation experience in plaintiff personal injury and medical malpractice litigation. Students will be guided by top practitioners and will be given meaningful feedback on their performance during their time spent with us. We offer a collaborative environment and value the contributions of our students.
We host a series of in-house seminars and continuing professional development programs to supplement the summer and articling program and ongoing professional development. The programs are designed to build substantive and practice management skills.
Our students are encouraged to take part in social events at the firm. Our events focus on community involvement as well as team building activities. Past events have included Lawyers Feed the Hungry, lawyer dinners, summer socials, and Blue Jays games.
Beyond a rewarding experience, Bogoroch & Associates LLP offers our students a competitive compensation package that is on par with those received by students at mid-sized and large Toronto firms.
Summer Program
Our summer program is designed to introduce students to personal injury litigation including medical malpractice, long-term disability and wrongful death litigation. We look for candidates who possess excellent analytical and communication skills, as well as the ability to thrive under pressure. Each summer student is assigned a mentor, who is an associate. The role of the mentor is to introduce the student to the firm, and assist with workflow and work assignments.
Our summer program runs from early May to mid-August.
Summer Students are paid at the rate of $1,700 per week.
Articling Program
Our articling program is centered on active participation from students; learning is one thing, but the opportunity to apply one’s knowledge is another. In addition to receiving mentorship and regular feedback from top professionals, students are given a great deal of responsibility early on. This includes preparing for mediations, hearings, arbitrations, examinations for discovery and trials.
Students will also be called upon to draft documents, including pleadings, motions, affidavits, pre-trial conference briefs, mediation summaries and research memoranda. They can expect to be actively involved in cases, to engage with clients, and to accompany lawyers to mediations, hearings and trials. We believe that our immersive approach to the articling program prepares students to become distinguished legal practitioners.
Our 10-month articling program runs from late July/early August to late May/early June.
Articling Students are paid at the rate of $1,750 per week. Benefits include two weeks of paid vacation, an extended healthcare plan (including dental coverage), life insurance and a subsidized fitness club membership. We also cover articling students’ Licensing Process fees.
